Emily M's Friday Report

Today we started weaving to get ready for the small potlatch we will be having in May. It is also called a "tleetsoo". We had one last year. People ate, danced and gave speeches. We will each ahve a job to do and we need to decide by next Friday what we'd like to do. The weaving is going well. It is complicated and harder than I thought it would be, but it's getting easier.
During Library time Mr. Lussier introduced some new books. The Goose Girl book sounded interesting to me. We had a Math test today on Clock Fractions. I think I did well. We also made tesselations which are shapes that have to fit together without gaps. You should colour them brightly.
In Art we are drawing portraits of ourselves in Pablo Picasso's abstract style. It is hard because we have to draw ourselves but in abstract.
At the end of the day we read a little bit of Dear Jo and then answered some questions, then read outside in the sun.

F.Y.I.

Well, we are swiftly headed for a well deserved break in our academic life with Spring Break around the corner! It looks like the weather may even cooperate to make it a great time to be outside!
Please know that Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Rempel are really wanting to use this blog as an additional form of communicating with home as planners don't always work, so check in often!! Also, feel free to leave us a comment too if you have a google account!
Have a great break, and don't forget to check the blog weekly!

Katie's Friday Report!

Today for MindUP, we all got a marble and we got a couple of minutes to look at it. Mrs. Rempel took the marbles and put them in a separate bag. The whole class went to the back table and tried to figure out what marble was our own. All of of got them right except for two. It was a little hard but easier than we thought it would be. It was easier because we got to spend some time focusing on it. Mr. Lussier is reading us a very sad book during Library time. During Math we went on the computers and played Math games. We worked on our Artist Study in the afternoon. Everyone needs to remember that the report is due in a week (Friday, February 12th). Mine will be done! We had a break outside. Some of us played soccer, some played basketball and some played on the swings. I think the day went really good because we got to work on our artist report and then I had a good time outside playing soccer!

Friday Report by Maddi L.

Today we learned about delayed gratification and listening in MindUP! We learned that if you have a choice about something that you want you and you can have it now or later, people who pick later are proven to be more successful.

We played a game called PIG in math. It's a risky game. You have to roll a dice and add the numbers. If you roll a one you stop and get zero. It's really fun.

In the afternoon we had time to look up information for our art project.

Another crazy, awesome, fun day in Division 1!

Danielle's Report!

Today was fun! We went to the library with Mr. Lussier. He has a great reading voice and I like that he shows us new books. I got to share New Moon with the class.
Today we practiced controlled breathing in MindUP because it makes you calm if you are mad, sad, or hyper. We are learning about how our brain works, about the Amygdala, the Prefrontal Cortex, and the Hippocampus. I need to pay attention more often to learn more about this.
We have a project for art due on February 12th. We have to choose an artist and write about her or him. I'm interested in doing this project because I like working on the computer. We also had silent reading at the end of the day. I like books but it is sometimes hard to stay quiet for that long.
